Most community college instructors who have taught courses for a number of years have accumulated a body of lecture notes, graphics, figures, study guides, etc. that could easily be the foundation of a customized publication for the classroom. Redhawk Publications has produced a number of books, crafted by community college instructors to help guide students through curriculum classes while improving their grasp of the subject. It remains one of the core missions of Redhawk to provide scaffolding material to assist students in learning the disciplines in their course of study, elevating their level of mastery. Where documented, bespoken workbooks and texts have increased student retention of subject matter and on some occasions have reduced the cost of texts previously used.
This presentation will demystify the higher education publishing process. Both new and seasoned attendees will learn the importance of publishing your own classroom materials, the rewards of publishing, and how to break the writing process into manageable processes. There will be a Q&A with one of Redhawk’s published instructors who will explain their journey from notebook to published author.
